Update from Local 210
Posted: January 30, 2006
The following is a letter from the Local 210 Negotiating Committee to the membership: TO ALL IBEW LOCAL 210 MEMBERS AT ATLANTIC CITY ELECTRIC In continuing with the commitment that the negotiating committee has made to the membership, we are providing the following update on the current negotiating sessions. With the addition of both the Federal mediator, and the IBEW International Representative, there has been a lot of dialogue this past week. Unfortunately, with all this dialogue, we are still a good ways off from reaching a tentative agreement worthy of our membership. Hopefully this week we will be able to move on to the benefits portion of negotiations and finally see how much it means to the Company that we paid 20% of the health care costs for as long as we did. It also must be noted that this Local has been involved in a joint health care committee with the company that has saved them millions of dollars over the years! We will continue to negotiate in order to reach the best that we can agree to, without allowing all that we have worked for over the years to be taken from us. With each day, it becomes more evident that we are no longer negotiating with a Company that has a concern about the future of the members who have continually worked to keep the lights on through storms, and spent countless hours away from their families. The same members who have worked through buyouts, downsizing, and mergers while continually setting the industry standard for safety. The same members the Company has labeled overpaid and dysfunctional. Now more than ever it is important for all of us to show the Company that we are united as members. There will be a lot of information coming, as our Strike Committee Leaders, and the Strategic Planning Committee continue to meet. These committees are only as successful in implementing different plans, as the membership is in seeing the plans through. Once again we want to urge all members to continue to stay focused on your job, with safety being everyone’s top priority. In solidarity your Union Negotiating Committee
