UPDATE #6 2010 CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS
TO ALL MEMBERS:
The Negotiating Committee continues to meet with the Company. The proposals that we received from the company as noted per our recent updates are the same issues discussed at length during the week of January 25, 2010. The Union also has several proposals to improve our existing benefits such as vacation, pension, and wages. The process is moving slowly so we will continue to keep you updated on our progress.
Given the magnitude of the Company’s pension proposal, we would like to give a side by side comparison of our current benefit, the proposed benefit for anyone who is not 50 years of age by 9/1/10 and the new hires. Remember that the Company’s proposal does not provide retiree medical for new hires.
Example: Based on a member who is 60 years of age whose 60 best months of base salary is $65,000/year ($74,750 with overtime), and 35 years of service. The amounts are based on a monthly allotment and are rounded to the nearest dollar.
